Dose calibrator shielding
Shielded Dose Calibrator Enclosures
While the majority of radiation shielding is designed to contain a source, dose calibrator cabinets serve a unique and critical protective function. These enclosures are precision-engineered to shield the internal ionization chamber from external “background” radiation. By attenuating ambient radiation from nearby sources or waste, the cabinet prevents external interference from skewing sensitive activity measurements, ensuring the highest level of accuracy for patient dose calibrators.
Precision Integration and Ergonomics
For a dose calibrator to function optimally, a precise fit within the shielding is essential. We manufacture our cabinets to exacting tolerances, ensuring the chamber is securely housed without excessive air gaps that could compromise shielding integrity. Because these chambers vary by manufacturer, care should be taken during the specification phase to ensure the cabinet dimensions align perfectly with your specific model.
To further enhance laboratory workflow, we also manufacture bespoke loading pieces. These are engineered to present the chamber at the correct ergonomic height—a feature particularly useful in dispensing areas where the chamber is mounted flush with the work surface. This ensures that the operator can load and unload the calibrator with high precision and minimal physical strain, maintaining both safety and clinical efficiency.
