Educational radioactive waste disposal
Raditech Ltd provides a comprehensive end-to-end solution for the collection, recycling, and disposal of diverse radioactive materials. We are proud to be a recognized service provider featured in the CLEAPSS guide L093, specifically supporting schools and colleges with safe disposal routes. To ensure absolute safety and full legal compliance, we streamline our intake process through a standardized reporting format (Form RF025). This allows us to meticulously align every project with Environmental Permitting regulations, our internal Waste Acceptance criteria, and all Carriage of Dangerous Goods requirements. Whether you have existing containers or require us to provide specialized packaging, our service is designed to manage your radioactive assets with technical precision and regulatory peace of mind.

The process:
Enquiry - The RF025 Form
Form RF025
Complete this form with as much information you have on the items you have for disposal. Send the completed form to sources@raditech.co.uk and a team member will get in touch with you to discuss your request. Advice can be sought from the CLEAPSS guide pages available at the bottom of the page. There is also an example of a properly completed RF025 form at the bottom of this page.
Collection timescale
Consolidated Collections: We group multiple site collections into single, strategic trips. By sharing the transport overhead across several schools in your area, we pass the “efficiency savings” directly to you.
Need a Specific Date? Choose Our Dedicated Service. While our consolidated route offers the best possible price, we recognize that some institutions require more immediate or precisely timed removals. If you are working toward a strict deadline—such as a building decommissioning, a safety audit, or a site renovation—we offer a Dedicated Collection Service.
Please Note: To maintain these low rates, the consolidated route operates on a scheduled basis. We appreciate your patience as we coordinate a “cluster” collection in your region to ensure the best possible price.
Collection
Professional On-Site Collection & Verification When Raditech arrives for a scheduled collection, our expert technicians handle every detail of the transition to ensure total regulatory compliance. We arrive by appointment only, carrying official identification and all necessary UN-marked specialist packaging. Our team performs a meticulous “unify and verify” process, cross-checking your declared inventory against the physical items as they are secured. Whether your materials qualify as Excepted Packages or require our high-specification Type A packaging, we provide the precise hardware and expertise needed for safe, legal containment.
Seamless Documentation & Security We prioritize a non-disruptive experience for your staff and students by managing the entire administrative burden on-site. Our ADR-trained drivers provide all required Dangerous Goods transport documentation, ensuring every form is completed and signed before we depart your premises. By combining rigorous safety protocols with a professional, scheduled approach, Raditech guarantees a secure chain of custody—giving your science department complete peace of mind from the moment we arrive to the final point of disposal.
Receipt Certification
Your Compliance Paperwork: A Complete Audit Trail We know that for schools, the “paperwork trail” is just as important as the physical removal. Raditech provides a transparent, multi-stage certification process so you can demonstrate full compliance at every step.
Phase 1: At the Point of Collection When our team departs your site, you will be issued a Consignors Certificate (RF012). This document serves as your immediate proof of transfer and is signed by three parties: the Consignor (Raditech), the Carrier, and your Site Representative. This ensures that the legal responsibility for the materials has been formally handed over to our ADR-trained team.
Phase 2: Arrival & Disposal Confirmation Once the materials reach our facility and are processed, we provide the final links in your audit trail:
Receipt of Delivery: You will receive a completed copy of the Consignors certificate (RF012), now signed by the Consignee to confirm the sources have arrived safely at our licensed site.
Itemized Inventory: We issue a Certificate of Receipt (RF024) for every individual item collected, providing granular data for your science department records.
Final Disposal: The process concludes with the End of Life Certificate (RF029). This is your permanent record confirming that the materials have been officially disposed of, successfully closing the lifecycle of your redundant sources.
