Transporting with SYCAD
SYCAD is a packaging solution for transporting radioactive material. With a range of containers solutions for the legal transport of radionuclides for both SPECT and PET. The most frequent radionuclides used in nuclear medicine Tc-99m, FDG (F-18) are permitted contents of the SYCAD system. Also calibration isotopes, Gd-153, Co-57, Ge-68 and Na-22 can be transported.
The Shielded Syringe Carrier is an evolution of the standard design. The shielding material is completely encapsulated within the aluminium body and can be tailored to the user’s requirement with shielding thicknesses ranging from 3-8mm. The Construction of the Shielded Syringe Carrier (SSC) is strong but lightweight with the 8mm version weighing in at only 6.9Kg.
When setting out an area for working with radioactive material radiation shielding is required to ensure the ambient dose rates are minimised and the radiation dose of the operator is kept as low as reasonably possible. Usually the shielding takes the form of a castle with thick shielding walls and the working area within. An encapsulated replaces the traditional lead chevron block castle.
Sharps Enclosure Features
Radi-tech offer a range of lead shielded enclosures for housing sharps bins. The range share common properties throughout and vary only in size and therefore the sharps bin(s) they can accommodate. Moreover positioning plates are available which can allow a sharps enclosure to be used with a variety of different sharps bins.
